The project „Seasons of Activities and National Identity for the Community in Great Britain,” funded by the Department for Romanians Abroad, aimed to promote the Romanian language and cultural values among Romanian children living in the UK. With a total budget of 88,400 lei, the initiative focused on engaging young individuals aged 5 to 13, along with their parents, through interactive educational sessions held in Cardiff and Bristol.
The initiative successfully attracted 30 families, representing both first and second-generation Romanians. This diverse participation facilitated not only the development of linguistic skills but also the enhancement of cultural understanding through thematic workshops and traditional games. These activities were designed to be both fun and educational, ensuring that children could learn while also enjoying a connection to their heritage.
Feedback from parents who participated in the project has been overwhelmingly positive. A remarkable 100% of parents reported that the activities had significantly contributed to their children’s learning of the Romanian language. In addition, 75% felt that the project reinforced their sense of belonging to the Romanian community. This response underscores the importance of such initiatives in fostering a strong community identity among Romanians living abroad.
