Interimary PSD President Sorin Grindeanu stated on Monday that his party is urging the Bolojan Government to swiftly take responsibility in Parliament for the removal of all privileges and injustices.
“We can take responsibility for eliminating privileges of all types as soon as tomorrow. (..) We can quickly formulate this package, and PSD is ready to enter this process of taking responsibility to eliminate privileges,” the PSD leader asserted.
Grindeanu mentioned that he has discussed the proposal with party leaders, who have agreed to support such a set of measures.
“I presented the current status, and everyone agreed that this potential assumption of responsibility should be approached differently. Additionally, everyone concurred with the proposal I made. Yes, we can take responsibility for eliminating privileges of all types as soon as tomorrow. (..) We can swiftly create this package, and PSD is ready to engage in this responsibility process for the elimination of privileges. Regarding the second part, concerning additional fiscal measures, this area needs to be more structured,” the PSD leader added.
Fiscal Measures and Budget Revisions
Grindeanu emphasized that we are currently in discussions regarding budget revisions, a process that the Ministry of Finance has already initiated and that requires consultations with all ministries.
“We need to know our current standing and what we aim to achieve by the end of the year, ensuring we meet all macroeconomic targets. Afterward, we will discuss fiscal measures from the second package, which, from our perspective, are of two types,” Sorin Grindeanu explained.
He continued by specifying the directions of these measures: “Part of them, which I’ve mentioned before, should correct certain excesses from the first package. Secondly, measures should target capital taxation, particularly for multinationals, along with better tracking of the revenues they generate, pricing, and taxations related to capital outflows or funds exiting the country.”
According to the PSD leader, “we also need to discuss a new insolvency law, which we are actively working on.”
Meeting with Prime Minister Bolojan and PSD’s “Red Line”
On Wednesday, there will be a meeting between the National Union of County Councils of Romania and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. PSD is preparing a technical document to ensure the continuity of investments in water, sewage, gas, and roads. Grindeanu emphasized that for PSD, projects under the Anghel Saligny program represent a “red line.”
The PSD President stated that the discussion with Ilie Bolojan must be technical, not political, arguing that “it is not political to have or not have water or roads in a community.”
